TAKASHI KOMINE

Takashi Komine

When I first began to learn of the properties of clay, I felt a sense of fulfillment in bending it beneath the weight of my own thoughts.
Yet as the years passed, I came to sense that within clay there lies, beyond its visible attributes, perhaps even deeper still, a hidden secret—something like a physiology of the earth itself.

There is no clay to be subdued there.
Instead, it is I who ask the clay—
which way it longs to move, what form it wishes to become.

It is strange, and yet a joyous freedom.
But to truly revel in that freedom, I still carry too many things within myself.
