Red clay mainly comes from the mountain behind the temple, and when it is not sticky enough, I blend it with other types of clay. For white clay, used for Oribe, I mix Shigaraki clay with a little local clay. To make glazes, I use wood ash and rice-straw ash from nearby farmers, as well as minerals from my surroundings, and I experiment with those not normally used in pottery.
