JUNICHI MASHIKO

Junichi Mashiko

My style features vessels in simple white powdered glaze or subdued iron-black glaze, with the surfaces carved or beveled using the techniques of shinogi (incised lines) and mentori (faceting).
I see myself more as a "craftsman" than an "artist." Having grown up in an ordinary salaryman household, the simple tableware on the dinner table felt far more real to me than the pieces displayed in art galleries. That is why I strive to offer good tableware at affordable prices. I want people to use it in their daily lives rather than just display it.
I would be happy if you used it.
